I almost didn’t have a WIP to post today, which is totally strange for me. But it’s not yet midnight here and I’ve got a new project started, so here it is!

MAPLE LEAF the Third and MAPLE LEAF the Fifth
I finally finished MAPLE LEAF the Third! It took a while to weave in all those ends, but I got it done. I finished MAPLE LEAF the Fifth also and blocked the two shawls yesterday.
WIP Wednesday: August 13, 2014
I have been working on MAPLE LEAF shawls this week. Nothing but MAPLE LEAF shawls. No progress on the Granny Square Blanket or on the spinning. All MAPLE LEAF, all the time.
The Spinner’s Book of Fleece by Beth Smith
When I started spinning last April, I did something I almost never do: I went into it blind. I love research. I’m the person who reads and reads and learns the nuances of something before I dive in and start doing it. I knew I wanted to learn to spin, so when I went to The Fiber Event in Greencastle, I planned to try out wheels so I could start to get an idea which wheel I liked best. I did not expect to buy a wheel, but that’s exactly what I did. I spun a little bit with almost no instruction, then started looking for resources to learn more. It was then, in mid-May, that I found The Spinner’s Book of Fleece by Beth Smith on Amazon. I preordered it and totally forgot until I got the e-mail telling me that it had shipped! The book is both more and less than I expected, and I truly love it for what it is.
First Ever Socks!
I finally finished my first ever socks. Well, first ever adult-sized socks. I made 4 minisocks a few years ago, but I have never made adult-sized socks or even a Christmas stocking before. I started these socks in October 2013, and they have been sitting in my UFO (unfinished object) pile since November 2013, awaiting a new bind-off and afterthought heels.
