WIP Wednesday: May 28, 2014

Somehow I have no WIPs to share this week. I’ve finished everything I picked up this week, so either there is no progress at all or the project is complete and waiting for me to take pix and write a blog post for it. Nevertheless, I want to keep up the habit of this weekly update so here’s a quick look at the past week in my fiber crafting life.

Finished Projects

I already posted two projects I finished this week: a Sapphire Hugo and a Scarlet Hugo. The Sapphire Hugo was in last week’s WIP Wednesday post.  The Scarlet Hugo was started and finished in a couple days, so did not make it onto the blog prior to attaining FO status.

MAPLE LEAF! I finished knitting this shawl today. Technically, it isn’t totally complete as I still need to weave in ends and block it. I plan to do that tomorrow and will blog about it tomorrow or Friday.

Ladder Stitch Dishcloths.  I crocheted 4 of these dishcloths this week.  I plan to crochet 3 more between today and tomorrow.  I then have to weave in all the ends, and will blog about them by Saturday.

Semi-Hibernating Projects

Granny Square Blanket.  Since I already met my goal for this month (13 squares), I won’t be working on this again until after June 1.

Begonia Swirl Shawl.  Since I already met my goal for this month (25% complete), I won’t be working on this again until after June 1.

Spinning pin-drafted wool.  I did spin for about an hour this week, but it didn’t amount to enough yardage for the difference to be noticeable in a picture.

In Other News…

When I started this website last year, I designed the logo myself using Pixlr.  It’s working okay, but as I’ve been trying to expand the usage of the logo to other venues, like Twitter and YouTube, I’ve discovered it doesn’t scale well.  My only option would be to recreate the logo for each set of dimensions each time I need something different than my previous creations.  This is time consuming, annoying, and the reason the logo is not currently on this website.  So I e-mailed a friend who is a graphic designer and asked for a quote on designing a proper logo.  It’s not a fiber project, but I’m excited about it and it is a WIP!

Coming Events

The end of the month and the beginning of a new month are super busy fiber crafting times during the HPKCHC term.  All May classes must be turned in by 11:59 pm POT (Princess Onica Time, known to Muggles as Pacific Time).  I’ve only turned in one class so far, but the MAPLE LEAF shawl, the granny squares, the dishcloths, a not-yet-started dyeing project (tomorrow), and possibly one other quick knitting project will be completed and turned in by the deadline.  Round 3 of the HPKCHC Quidditch World Cup starts on May 30 and runs through June 8.  This round, 200 yards is the minimum.  New HPKCHC classes post June 1.  I have got to get on the stick with my spinning OWL.  I planned to get 8 ounces done in May, but I’ve only done about 2.  I must have 16 ounces done and plyed together by the end of June in order to get to my 50% mark.  I am planning to go to my first ever spin in on June 7; there’s a spin in on the first Saturday of the month at a local coffee shop, and this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to go since getting my wheel because I was at MDSW the first Saturday of May.  I will be in Hartford, Connecticut June 8 – 12, helping my sister unpack in her new apartment, so I have to figure out another good travel knitting project.  It’s a super busy couple weeks, and there should be a bunch of blog posts from me as a result!
